APPLICANT FAQS
WHAT SHOULD MY
APPLICATION VIDEO
LOOK LIKE?
Ultimately, the goal is for the Application Panel to understand your vibe, flow, and execution. It doesn’t have to be filmed in one continuous take, but the choreography and pole combos should be clear and flow with your style. Avoid heavy edits that obscure your movement or overall flow. The setting doesn’t need to be a stage—studios, practice spaces, or even prior performance/showcase videos are acceptable.
Bonus points if you include music or costume that allude to your concept or the general vibe of the show. Remember this is your opportunity to show off what you could bring to the show!
WILL I RECEIVE FEEDBACK
ON MY SUBMISSION?
Yes! Our Application Panel will provide detailed, comprehensive, constructive feedback regardless of whether you have gained admittance as a competitor or not.
CAN I CHANGE MY CONCEPT AFTER
I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION?
Your submission concept should represent the core of what you plan to perform. Though it does not have to be your final concept, if significant changes are needed, please communicate with us so we can discuss feasibility.
WILL I NEED TO SIGN
ANY WAIVERS?
Yes, selected competitors will need to sign waivers to participate, covering liability and permissions for photos and videos.

ABOUT THE THEME
This year, we call upon competitors to embody the fury and defiance of those wronged, accused, and condemned in Salem. From the ashes of history, vengeance rises as a force of reclamation. In this dark realm, fear once silenced the innocent — now, it fuels creation.

We invite you to channel this rage, crafting performances that honor the wronged and give voice to the silenced through revenge. Draw from history, myth, or social struggle to weave narratives of vengeance, fury, and betrayal.
Examples: Carrie, The Count of Monte Cristo, Frankenstein, Kill Bill, the entirety of 2024 - we can go on and on.

You can also be a sexy witch, if you choose.... but make it violent. Make it angry. Make it memorable. Make it vengeance.

1692 is a ritual of empowerment — a collective reckoning of the forsaken and forgotten.

1692: A RITUAL OF VENGEANCE.
WHAT ARE SOME GENERAL RULES ABOUT ON-STAGE PROPS?
While we prefer to keep things flexible and avoid too many strict rules, there are a few important guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe experience for everyone:

-
Floor Safety: Props that could potentially warp or damage the stage floor are not allowed. This ensures we maintain the integrity of the performance space for all competitors.
-
Time Efficiency: Props that require significant set-up or clean-up time, particularly those that could delay the flow of the show, are discouraged. We aim to keep the schedule running smoothly and avoid unnecessary delays before performances.
-
Safety: Any props that may pose a risk of injury to competitors or guests are strictly prohibited. Safety is our top priority.
-
Live Animals: For the safety and well-being of all involved, live animals are not permitted.
We are happy to work with you to ensure your props align with these guidelines while still allowing for creativity and flair in your performance.

More information on on-stage props will be sent to applicants who gain admittance into the competition.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR HEELS IN ORDER TO COMPETE IN THIS EVENT?
No, there are no requirements regarding footwear. You are free to wear heels, no heels, or any other type of shoe that feels comfortable for you. The focus is on your performance, not your footwear.
WHAT IF I'M UNSURE OF WHICH LEVEL TO CHOOSE FOR APPLYING?
It’s perfectly fine to feel between levels,
and we’re here to help!
Feel free to choose both categories, or the category you feel you most fit into, and in your concept description, let us know you’d like assistance with leveling.
The Application Panel will use your video and notes to ensure you’re placed in the most appropriate level, should you gain admittance into the competition.
ARE THERE RESTRICTIONS ON THE TYPE OF SUBMISSION VIDEO I SUBMIT?
We welcome all styles of pole dance, but interaction with the pole is required for this competition. Submission videos are flexible, however, no nudity is allowed.
DO I NEED TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE TO APPLY?
Not at all! We welcome performers of all experience levels. Passion, creativity, and a connection to the show’s theme are more important than your resume.
HOW DO I APPLY?
All applications will be made through our website on the Application page, once applications open.
WHAT IS THE 360' STAGE AND
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR IT?
Our stage is surrounded by the audience, so every angle is a performance opportunity. The stage will have a single, 45mm, 12' tall ceiling-mounted pole that can be set to spin or static.
Think about how your movements and stage presence will engage viewers on all sides, and incorporate dynamic elements that take advantage of this setup.
More information on the stage will be provided upon admittance to the show. Patience, demons.
DO YOU ALLOW DOUBLES?
At this time, we are not accepting doubles for the event.
However, we do accept human props. Please note that human props must not take up a significant amount of time on stage and should not touch the pole more than you—ensuring they do not outshine your performance. Additionally, all human props must have an individual ticket to the show in order to participate during your routine.
WHAT ARE SOME GENERAL RULES ABOUT HUMAN PROPS?
It's important to note that human props should not take up a significant amount of time on stage during your routine. They should complement, not overshadow, the main performance. Additionally, human props should not touch the pole more than you, ensuring that the focus remains on you throughout the performance.
More information on human props will be sent to applicants who gain admittance into the competition.
OUR APPROACH TO RULES AND GUIDELINES:
We’re not big fans of rigid rules—creativity thrives when there’s room to think outside the box. That said, we do have a few essential guidelines in place to ensure that everyone can have a safe, fair, and impactful experience. The guidelines we do have are designed to create a supportive environment where all competitors feel encouraged to push their boundaries and fully express their unique talents, safely.
We want you to bring your boldest, most innovative ideas to the table, and we’re here to help make that happen in a way that’s respectful, safe, and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Let’s break the mold together…
but maybe not the bones, okay?
LAST BUT NOT LEAST...
Remember, the competition starts with your application. Good luck, Sinner.
A word of warning: We operate by a code of conduct. Respect it and simply don't be an asshole. Hex us, and we'll know. And trust us, everything comes back threefold.
Play fair and with respect, or don’t play at all.
Yours in sin xo

WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M
NOT SELECTED TO COMPETE?
If your piece isn’t chosen this time, don’t be discouraged! We will provide feedback to help you refine your work for future opportunities.
As a declined competitor, you will also be able to claim an Individual GA Ticket to the show.
DO YOU ALLOW INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS?
We welcome international competitors, and we are excited to have a diverse range of participants!
ARE THERE ANY GENDER-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING?
No, we do not have any gender-specific rules or restrictions. All individuals, regardless of gender, are welcome to compete and participate fully.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO LEVELS?
You may have just stepped into the dark and thrilling world of pole competitions and have a basic understanding of pole fundamentals. While your routine may not be complex, it should demonstrate smooth transitions, musicality, and confidence. If you're not executing advanced moves like handsprings or aerial tricks, this category is a good fit.
You see those Level 4 and 5 pole demons and think, please don’t make me compete with them.
Strong inversions, savage combos, and advanced tricks are second nature to you. You don’t just move on the pole—you control it, executing every dark, daring move with brutal precision. You may get paid to perform or instruct on the regular. You are a strong inverter and can move through intricate floor work and advanced tricks with ease.
Essentially, you're doing some crazy shit on the pole and you execute all of your
moves skillfully.
